Cruises to Cape Brett via Hole in the Rock an early morning water taxi. Step ashore at the old landing, step by step up to the last light keepers house and then you, settle in for a hard climb up past the lighthouse, with many photo stops along the way. Once cresting the last of many teasing peaks navigate your way through salt burnt tussock country, windswept stunted Manuka and glimpses of mature forest for a well-earned break looking back once you have conquered Pukehuia you look back over your trail. wander along under significant forest canopy, as you trek along the trail you will see evidence of Maori habitation, the regrowth of plant species, presence of fantail, wood pigeon, pied tit and tui descending to Rawhiti to meet your water taxi at 16:00
